A week ago today, the guy and I found ourselves on Valencia Street in the Mission District of San Fransisco. Since we both had been to SF a number of times we decided to spend most of our short 48 hours getting to know one neighborhood, hitting some old favorites and discovering some new ones. If you've read that post down below there then you know that I was absolutely dying to visit the Little Paper Planes Store. It finally happened and let me tell you, it was one big well designed dream come true.
Kelly Jones, the brain woman behind LPP does such a killer job at curating this collection of little curiosities and artist goods. I easily could have spent the day there (basically almost did) and even contemplated moving right in. I left with a few beautiful publications, an art print, and some Herbivore Botanicals Pink Clay ( because where the hell do they sell that good stuff in Chicago?) but I was most excited about bringing home that really great black and white graphic notebook designed by Loren Crosier.
Loren is a freelance graphic designer, art director, and photographer based out of San Francisco. She has a beautiful studio in Oakland, works at Little Paper Planes, and is constantly designing, shooting, collaborating, and putting her good vibes out in the world. She also shares a bunch of great thoughts and inspiration on her blog.
I highly recommend you check out the rest of her work here.
After visiting LPP we spent the rest of the day adventuring around and enjoying the warm weather. Based on our quick visit in the Mission, here is a little 24-48 hour guide if you ever find yourself in SF: Definitely spend a day in The Mission. Grab a croissant and coffee at Tartine, wander Valencia St, discover little wonders at Paxton Gate, weave through the alleys and check out the murals, stop into LPP and support a local artist ( say hi to Loren if she's working), dine at Delfina, then grab ice cream at Bi Rite, and finish it off by laying around Delores Park with some good company. Other SF notables : Drinks at Alembic, punch at Hobson's Choice, beer and charcuterie at Mikkelar Bar, pizza at Pizzetta, dinner at B-Star, SF Moma, The deYoung, a stroll through Golden Gate Park, The Presidio, and the gorgeous view from Vista Point, Sausalito.
