Welcome to 1137

A few months ago I came to the realization that I have been blogging in some form or another since I was 16 years old. It started with a Flickr 365 project, transformed into a blogspot with a personal narrative, morphed into an editorial space, and made a few cameos on the tumblrsphere. I gravitate towards blogging because it's a pretty special outlet to share ideas and inspiration but mostly because of the community and conversation it manifests that connect me to like-minded creatives who are constantly kicking ass at life and pushing me to do the same.  Last winter, somewhere between writing a thesis, graduating college, falling in love, moving apartments, navigating life as a post grad and trying to figure out what on earth I was going to do with my life and how on earth I was going to make a difference in other people's I decided to stop blogging for the first time in seven years. The plan was to give myself a huge chunk of time to step back from the keyboard, soak in inspiration, learn new skills, listen, observe, read, research, and figure out how I was going to use my treasured internet space to pursue what I wanted in the most positive and empowering way.

And so one year and a few months later it is my pleasure to introduce you to my new little corner of the internet; a thoughtfully curated collection of all things art, design, style, and culture that celebrates that special place where they all collide. Named after my HQ in the infamous Fulton Vortex which is said to host a "good feeling" energy force capable of inducing creativity and comfort, 1137 will be a constantly evolving positive creative space that welcome contributors and actively supports makers. I will curating and sharing my favorite content daily while featuring contributions by a selection of fabulous designers, artists, writers, thinkers and makers. Currently taking the form of an ongoing blog it will grow to support an online shop and then eventually (fingers crossed hard) a physical gallery/community space. So here it goes, back in action!  Welcome to 1137 :)
